Angry problem

as always i am sorry if this is the wrong thread or a stupid question, but i cannot find the answer . I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP

.....so i bought a utec used for my 02 wrx. it is version 2.5(i think) and it will not let me upgrade to v5.0.? why? there is power to the utec, and i hooked it up right. the utec shows on the laptop, and i can see some of the maps currently loaded from the previous owner. how do i upgrade the software, when it does not recgonize the new version i have downloaded? i am connected thru the hyperterminal and all the settings are correct for connection. it just wont let me flash the new firmware on (v5.0).
thanks ,
Joe
