Default whoever is still around...nnj newbie to awd...need advice!

sup fellas!! baby woke me up earlier and the snow looks like it's coming down lovely...i had to move my preza and decided to hit the pathmark parking lot next door...mind you this was my first time with my awd...wasn't as much fun cuz i was worried about the islands and light posts , but more importrantly the best way to handle the car in the snow!! i did your basic donuts, tried to drift a little (if you want to call it that)...let me know your best advice so i can head back out before the snow traps me in and my clothes dry off...i want to make use of this storm since my knee (torn acl) took out my fun rom boarding this season...

any locals to jc area (w.bergen side) let me know where your headed if you aren't there already...

thanks~

hey, yeah tires are the biggest problem causing snow accidents, well that and ppl just driving too fast. kinda go hand in hand.

Drive around the lot and get a feel for her. Analyze the input and the output and your results, dont like it, try something else.

Don't brake while turning as it'll make you slide out.... I learned that the hard way.

My tip, don't die and you should be good.

Actually, the best thing for you to do is take a winter driving school, like they offer at O'Neils up in New Hampshire. They sometimes offer specials, and the instructors are top notch. I took a few classes up there myself and it vastly helped improve not only my winter driving ability, but high speed and all conditions as well.

Check them out, see what they have. The best way to learn how to drive is to approach it like an academic pursuit, use the resources, study (practice) be patient and take your time. Learn what your limits are and what your equipment's limits are.

Oh and don't assume that your car is going to do those tail flick powerslides with ease, Subarus actually have a tendancy for heavy under-steer, espically if you are unfamlier with the car's personality.

My only tip- turn wheel left/right but not completely locked (youll hurt your steering pump) modulate gas up and down = spin in place.

njskatchmo i love the day after snow storms because along with the "i ****ed up my car/wheel/control arm" you get the "WTB: power steering pump"... DON'T DO DONUTS IN FULL LOCK GUYS

I just went around my area.. mostly Paramus since the damn town is so big... went up and down route 17 and found open parking lots. That's the best bet for me and best odds to avoid cops.
