think it's worth it if you don't plan to upgrade your car... I've had it for a year and it worked great. Is that TXS unichip?

I had the unichip for a long while and loved it. It truly was a set-it and forget-it EM piggyback.

My mods were : VF34, Perrin TMIC, Sti Pinks, walbro pump, APS up, APS down, APS tbe, GT spec headers, IC water spray, UNICHIP.

The car was a 2.0 WRX stock block and tranny - ran 8.45 in the 1/8th and felt very smooth on the road. If I had not upgraded my mods , i would've kept the unichip. I ended up going with UTEC, and now i have moved on the AP with protune. But the Unichip was still the most seamless EM I've ever experienced.

Good Luck.

I run one sometimes...contrary to the above post, mine is pretty on/off. Make that VERY on/off.

If your car likes it, they tend to go like stink. My TXS stage II easily outran my OTS AP stage II. You'll see lots of 13.1's with unichips from back in the day if you search.

Cheap, big fun, not smooth....2 outta 3 ain't bad!

thanks for the info fellas.

One more question tho.... I see that a lot of people are running some sort of MBC with it. Is this necessary or just something that they can be tuned for? Do they all use them?

The MBC won't do you much good unless you have a boost gauge. I have a Unichip in my car now and it's been great. Make sure you do the harness mod to even out the accelleration. See below from stuff I used when installing mine. I can send you a complete install doc, just PM me for it...

The programmed stage 2 boost curve for the Unichip in 4th gear is as follows:

RPM Boost
3500 16.5psi
4000 16.5
5000 16.5
6000 14
7000 13

Note: Boost in 1-3rd gear will be slightly lower and boost in 5th gear will be slightly higher (~0.5psi).

If you live at sea level, minimal or no adjustment of the boost level should be required. However, if you live at high altitude, you will need to use the ABC to increase the boost level. To increase boost, simply use the included hex key to turn the boost controllerís adjustment screw counter-clockwise. Each full turn of the screw will increase the boost approximately 1 psi. Remember to use a boost gauge when setting the boost level!

Ask vishnu!
Thats the same thing as his exeddy system.
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT IT IS NOT IN A PLASIC CASING WITH PREPINNED OUT HARNESSES.
VISHNU IS A COPY I.E.

My unichips by themselves have never hit target boost. Always needed the MBC to achieve it.

I never used a MBC with mine. Mine was an older model made by APS. Came with clubspec kit from Cobb.
