Default Whats the difference between Stage 2 & 3

I have looked all over but have yet to actually figure it out, so I figured I would ask. What exactly is the difference between stage 2 & 3? I have an 05 STI and have scheduled my dyno tune on ECUTek for next month but want to make sure it is not a difference of a couple hundred dollars to just upgrade to Stage 3 rather than sticking with the Stage 2 setup I have. Thanks in advance and dont worry my flame suit is on.

Stage 1: 150,000 Gran Turismo Credits
Stage 2: 300,000 Gran Turismo Credits
Stage 3: 550,000 Gran Turismo Credits
Stage 4: 750,000 Gran Turismo Credits

It's all marketing. Like, what the heck is Stage 0? Stage 0.5?

Cobb stage 1 is stock with engine management.
Cobb stage 2 is a turboback exhaust and engine management.
Cobb stage 2.5 is a VF series turbo and engine management.

typically, if you see someone say their cars stage 2, they probably have a turbo back exhaust and stock turbo with a tune. anything after like stage 4 is a new turbo and tune. but like said above, its all marketing. different manufacturers will have different stages lol Im stage 47 right now. catless u.p, turbo back and no tune haha

So what would it be considered with these mods:

Invidia 3 DP
HKS Carbon TI Exhaust
AEM CAI
HKS BOV
ECUTek

If it matters Greddy Profec 2

Stage 2.7934

Or whatever. Stage is a marketing term that started getting widely used after the Gran Turismo game got released. Three different tuning companies can call something Stage 3 and they may all have different parts.

Each manufacturer has their own "Stages" they are not universal, Cobb stage 2 maybe more or less expensive and may net moreo r less power than Vishnu stage 2 or any one elses stage 2.... it SEEMS most would agree that stage 1 is just a computer upgrade, stage 2 is a turbo back... but as ststed they all vary

As noted, the stages aren't consistent between tuners/manufacturers. MOST stage 1 cars just have EM, MOST stage 2 cars have a turboback exhaust + EM, but there are no set rules. It is all marketing.

I love how nobody answered his question

Here's a link to the general answer.
http://www.wrxevolution.com/stageupgrades.asp

A stage 2 basically a TBE and tune.
stage 3 is TBE, Tune, UP and TMIC

Between the diff manufacturers some parts may vary, but most hover around there.

It does vary from manufacturer to manufacturer or tuner to tuner . I was under the impression that stage 3 was when you added a larger intercooler and stage 4 when you upgraded the turbo and fuel system. However everybody seems to make their own packages and follow their own rules.

I am planning to get rid of the CAI it came with the car when i bought it. Now since I am planning on going to Stage 4 next winter should I just upgrade to a Perrin Biig MAF intake rather than buying a WAI and is it possible just to do a FMIC instead of TMIC just to save myself the money in the long run? Thanks for your help Aphex28

I was also thinking stage 2 to 3 would be a bigger intercooler.
