I've watched Neil in person, he looks much angrier than in the animation I'm hoping for another Rush studio album, they're my favorite group.

+1 Great find.

Agreed, would have liked to have seen some more intensity in the facial expressions; then again, even air-drumming YYZ is hard, let alone animating it.

Today, yes, but during the period of that song and that kit, he played matched grip.

Pretty cool for an animation.

Neil plays both ways depending on song and style.

They are my faves. In response to monstArs opinion I feel lucky to have found a group of artists that I thoroughly enjoy everything they do. My band.

maybe it's me, but i just don't think playing YYZ is all that difficult(when i used to play, that is...these days, i can SOUND like him, but not PLAY like him)... of course, it's hard to copy him on a 5 piece vintage gretsch, too.

cool...i never knew that. my dad took lessons from buddy's coach in high school. he bought the ORIGINAL drumset from the tonight show when he was 15...still have it today. original cases still stay Ed Shaugnessy!! all orig hardware. orig heads:bottom snare, high tom, low tom, bass back... back in my sophmore year of HS, i played with the california and orange county all star jazz bands, and doc severenson saw my set and freaked. one of the sets carson and buddy used to play on air. the set was designed by and for buddy. 100 built. he kept 50. pro's took the others. never went up for public sale. still sounds as good as...well...1975(the first time i think i remember hearing it )...

whoa that is uber cool.

I saw ES on tv when he was a guest player with the Univ of WI superband. He has mad percussion and drumming skillz. He did one solo on his drums with only his hands (no sticks) and his voice. Incredible.

my pops and i used to watch louie bellson at cal state long beach every year for like 5 yrs in a row. when he did his big caravan solo(about 15minutes), he'd use BROOM HEADS!!! he was also a double -basser... UNBELIEVABLY fast feet... after every concert he'd INVITE young drummers to the green room, give us all some sticks, and TEACH us rudaments!! sometimes we'd sit there for 2 hrs AFTER the concert...he was just way too cool... he recognized me once when his band was playing at disneyland and tossed me his sticks right after his caravan solo...
