Default TSD rally in Houghton, MI on the 4th of March

http://www.w-a-g.org/events/rallies/...3-04/info1.htm

I am heading up with a friend to co drive with him, and it seems some folks from the Focus SVT groups im involved with are also going. Figure I would drop a line here.

Theres never a bad reason to go to Houghton, lots of good beer, and stuff to do

Joe

I was up in houghton for the last 4 days with some friends, and went driving around the peninsula on Friday and Saturday... wow. Yeh thats some hard core driving It was a blizzard/snow storm warning for around 36 hours, lower than -30F wind chills, and LOTS of wind. Perfect time to go bombing around the roads on the shores of lake Superior

26 has to be one of the coolest roads in the UP (that are open in the winter). One thing was for sure... all season tires don't match the seasons up there The "snow" people in WI seem to think is bad, is like a dusting up there. And amazingly... people in the UP can drive in the snow... even the stupidest drunk college kid drives better in the snow up there than some soccer mom in her 20 ton SUV down in Madison does.

Some pics of my trip:

I am still working on a friend to go to the rally, hes getting a lil nervous driving his car up there in conditions that may match what we saw up there last weekend.

Im Sold We came in 9 of 10, but we finished and with a score that was befitting our noob ignorance. (if I wouldnt have missed a page, and mis calculated 2 times we could have been in the top 5 by my math... pending we didnt get into any more ditches care of the driver hehe) I have a whole new outlook on the navi's role in a car, and I think I want to do this more and more

So much fun it shoulda been illegal!, 2 subie's were in the rally (well 4 but only 2 were running in the rally). It was humorus seeing the nice power slides in the rear view as they were playing around on the muddy/grave/snow/ice surface

Clegg -- Thats exactly what happened to me when I did the KWR in 2001. As soon as I moved down here to the big D I started looking for TSD's to do.... Now I'm an addict.

Check out Glacier Trails and ElDiablo, from what I hear they are awesome events.

I know what you mean, I'm a driver, and its my daily.

It is interesting the kind of driving you have to do to make a CAST of 43 or 37, Isn't it?
