Default Water Leak Other than Condensation?

This morning after changing the oil in my 2000 Legacy GT, I noticed a significant amount of water dripping onto the floor from just behind the right front wheel.

I had not recently run the air conditioner, so I'm sure it was not condensation from the compressor.

My next assumption was that it was coolant, but it was definitely clear and tasteless, so I'm doubtful.

Can anyone offer a potential explanation?

All I'm left with is that water from the rain overnight collected somewhere in the engine compartment, and drained after I pulled the car into the ( level ) garage. But that seems unlikely.

Thanks.

you mean you tasted it???? jeez!

I've had a clogged drain tube from the evaporator-you can see the tube in the passenger side of the engine bay at the bottom of the firewall, that gave similar symptoms. But you said you hadn't run the A/C- for me the bottom of the evaporator filled w/ about 1/2 gal. of water and just slowly leaked out through the foam seals.

The only way to check for rain would probably be to run a hose and check you door drains, side sill drains etc, and see if everything is ok.

Default I assume....

you raised the car to change the oil? If you did this could have caused additional water to leak from your evaporator(A/C) box or as happens sometimes on my car therain gutter abve the windows down the a-pillar and onto the floor at this same point from inside the engine compartment. HTH
