As the next step in figuring out my mysterious throttle-position-related hesitation, I've decided to take a look at the throttle position sensor. Is the TPS the same for all GCs or is there one specific to the EJ20K?

I imagine getting one for a G would be as hard as getting one for a K. What about USDM models?

hook up your volt meter to the TPS signal wire and move the throttle and look at the voltage. it should change the V reading you are seeing. it should change smoothly as your moving the TPS sensor. if you have an abnormal reading thrue the range you more then likely have a bad TPS sensor.

I think its 2-2.4V idle , 4-3-4.8 wot . I missed out but what is your hesitation problem ?

well, they have told you how to test it...if that fails, post a pic of what she looks like...many parts were shared with the old EJ18's and the earlier wrx/sti motors...just how subaru does it
