Default Maserati GranSport MC Victory @ 2006 Geneva Show

Maserati GranSport MC Victory @ 2006 Geneva Show

Quote:
THE WORLD PREMIERE OF THE MASERATI GRANSPORT MC VICTORY

To celebrate winning the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturersí Cup, Maserati has launched a new limited edition model of the GranSport.

The Maserati GranSport MC Victory will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, and will be on sale from May, with only 180 individually numbered units being produced.

As well as boasting a higher level of standard equipment than the Maserati GranSport on which it is based, the new Maserati GranSport MC Victory offers a variety of new features that clearly link it to the Maserati MC12, and enhance its driving dynamics.

Externally, the Maserati GranSport MC Victory is immediately identified by its blue carbon fibre front and rear spoilers and the Italian flag recessed into the front wings, another feature inspired by the MC12.

Aerodynamic efficiency increased

The enlarged front splitter of the Maserati GranSport MC Victory generates more downforce at high speeds, as do the extended side skirts, modifications which improve the carís high speed stability and dynamic responsiveness. Its agility is further improved by more direct and precise steering, creating driving characteristics more closely matched to those of the Maserati MC12.

Carbon fibre, leather and Alcantara interior trim

The cabinís carbon fibre components are in blue to match the exterior spoilers. They are combined with a selection of leathers and Alcantara trim, which cover the upper dashboard, the door panels, the steering wheel - making it easier to grip Ė and the centre sections of the carbon fibre racing seats, the overall effect dramatically heightening the interiorís sporting ambience.

The upgraded interior, the sharpened steering response and improved high speed stability of the Maserati GranSport MC Victory bring the driving experience closer to the exhilaration enjoyed by the racing drivers of the Maserati MC12, while its distinctive look fittingly celebrates Maseratiís victory in the 2005 FIA GT championship

Ugly. This coupe and it's sedan twin are some of the ugliest cars on the road today.

I saw someone driving a 'standard' Gran Sport yesterday and while I guess it is common for companies to make a go faster version featuring styling accessories this car just seems like a riced (risottoed?) out Maserati. I think the early versions were cleaner with a smaller front grille / let alone the tail lights on the 3200. Also, don't miss the small italian flag just above the side light on this car.
Anyways compared to a 456 its a good deal but its hard to compare to most other cars on the market outside of an XK8.
The new one that comes out in a year or two should be much better with the QP transaxle and a 4.7 or 5.0L version of this engine. They may also do a folding hardtop convertible.

BTW new Quattroporte was designed by Pininfarina, coupe designed by Giugiaro, not twins.

The Coupe/Spyder are ok looking (they sound great, though)...but I think the Quattroporte is fantastic looking. Easily one of my favorite sedans.

I think the profile looks really good, but I agree that the front end is a little dull. I think it's the bland shape of the headlights...not at all agressive.

The next generation coupe will be based on the Qporte platform (which features a transaxle and Ferraris new rear weight bias philosophy). It isn't exactly clear when or in what form this car will appear, rumors suggest anything from a folding hardtop to a bentley style big coupe and with engines from 4.7 to 5.0L. I do think it is likely it will appear around 2008 and will be bigger/more expensive since they're also planning a new entry level car.

They're also doing a new GT3 race car.

I personally feel that the maseratis don't look bad at all. I think the coupe is a little bland, too anonymous for the price. However the quattroporte has tons of presence, and would take one over the big jag.
