until someone starts macking stuff for the mac you are either 1. screwed. 2. forced to use a pc emulator that might not work. or 3. forced to borrow a pc.

There just isn't a huge demand out there for mac software like this.

Even Hondata, who used macs internaly, didn't write a mac version of their ECU editing software. They wrote a PC version because more people have access to a pc.

Its funny how different low demand nitches are complete opposites. All of my genetic sequencing and phylogenetic analysis software is only mac compatible.

You do see a lot more Macs in the biological and medical sciences. I haven't started building for other platforms (such as Mac and Linux) yet, but the EcuFlash software I am developing is built in C++ using Qt, which allows it to be compiled for Win/Mac/Linux without any code changes. Logging is last on my list after reflashing and tuning, but eventually all of the pieces should be there, and available for all platforms.

How are you using the same serial code on Win32 and Linux?

Having written for both, I can say that the access methods are a good bit different.

How right you are

I have a different serial communications class I wrote for linux that is conditionally compiled when I target that platform. I run linux in my rally car to do recording of video, SSM logging, and to talk to GPS / accelerometers / etc. So I've had a chance to test the serial code out there. They key thing is that I don't have to rewrite any UI, filesystem, or option persistence stuff. I do have to make the various installers though...
