Outback Sport Keyless entry keypad - like Ford OEM units

Has anyone ever installed one of those 5-button keypads for the keyless entry on their Subaru?

Like the ones that come either OEM or aftermarket for Fords:
http://www.parts.com/partlocator/ind...catalogid=3138

I really like the Ford version of those, the problem is that they work by interfacing with your Ford remote keyless entry unit, which I doubt would be compatible with a Subaru unit.

The only other way would be hardwiring, and I've seen this unit on Ebay:
http://jksungag.trustpass.alibaba.co..._Security.html

But that looks pretty cheesy.

The best option I found was this, which would also require hardwiring:
http://www.keyless.com/KE-1600%20Main.htm

That one is more expensive though, at around $200.

I'd really like to get the Ford one to work.. I like the way it works, pressing 6|7 and 8|9 together to lock the doors, pressing 3|4 after the correct code to unlock the rest of the doors, etc. (That and I used to have an Explorer and have a code in mind that I couldn't use with the KE-1600 because it starts with a 5, which is what the KE-1600's lock code begins with). I also like the fact that I can pick one up for <$100

Does anyone know if the Ford and Subaru remotes are compatible or a way to make them so? Or am I SOL here?

You're SOL!

I've got the KE-1600 but I never got around to installing it, especially because I couldn't find a good place to mount it, I didn't have the heart to drill through my door skin.

Instead I got a knock sensor, you just mount it to the inside of a window or body panel, and program your own knock sequence. Invisible, reversible, cheap, simple.

Hmm that's interesting. How does that work? It doesn't really have much info on the website. Is it sensitive to variation in your rhythm? Do you have it interfaced with the stock security module or do you not have one? Certainly sounds like a cool idea.

Also, are you looking to get rid of your KE-1600? If so, PM me, I may be interested.

It listens for a sequence, for example if you set the pin to 3-1-2 then you knock three times, wait a second, knock once, wait, etc...

I actually haven't installed mine yet, it arrived yesterday and I'm waiting for my Viper 791xv to arrive before installing everything, along with a CANbus interface from bypasskit.com. Everything will work together of course, the knock sensor will disable the alarm and unlock the doors, and the CANbus interface will save a lot of time wiring, it's an amazing product.

Sorry I don't want to sell the keypad unit, I want to install it on another car.
