Default Proposed Paintless Dent Removal Day

I was looking through for ideas on paintless dent removal pricing and saw the SoCal club has had a few paintless dent removal days and was wondering if anyone has ever organized a paintless dent removal day in the Mid-Atlantic region? I've heard they can be expensive and thought we might be able to get some kind of discount for getting a bunch of cars together in one place so everyone can get those annoying door dings and shopping cart attack marks out of their cars. I've also been looking for this kind of event since I can't really get the mobile dent removal services done on a military base and thought we might be able to pull something together like the tint day that was done in the fall. Let me know what you guys think and if anyone else would be up for this. I'm not sure where we could do it, but I'm up for ideas.

-Jon

I can recommend the dent guy at Criswell Honda/Chevy/Lotus (previously Lamborghini too) in Germantown/Gaithersburg. The guy is amazing. The only problem is that he lives in WV and doesn't work weekends. Organizing something would be difficult, but you may want to give Fran (body shop mgr) at Criswell Honda a call to see... If that's a good location.

If you can't organize a day, I'd still recommend them. Both of the dings I've had them work on on my S2000 were trouble spots that other shops had refused to work on and even I can't find them anymore.

What do you mean? They didn't do a good job? Btw, was there a fee? Is is just car enthusiasts at UMD that want to hone their skills, do paintless dent removal as a job, or what? I'm curious.

thx,

Ed

I think he means parking at UMD has put a ton of dents and dings in his car.

I think they mean, "the no talent ass-clown students at UMD have opened their doors into my car 123,973,087,978,983,443 times, resulting in 341,789,237,492,013,874,892,073,498,214,082,095 dents."

I am currently looking around at different dent removal companies to see who can give us the best prices as well as accomodate our location needs. I was thinking of trying to find a location in the DC/College Park area to be as central to as many people in NoVA/DC/Baltimore as possible. If anyone has a good idea of a place within the area, let me know, or if anyone completely objects to doing it somewhere in DC or College Park, speak up.

Thanks for the input,
Jon

Also found a place in Rockville that has their own location and is open 8AM-4PM on Saturdays. I'll contact them if people aren't completely against the location.

Here's their website:

Ed,

Like a few other people have said, we mean that parking at University of Maryland (UMD) has given us lots of dents since stoopid college students are idiots and UMD paints their parking spots too small.

The sad thing is that I parked in a staff lot which usually has slightly bigger spots and don't have people coming in and out of it all the time. While is was mostly OK in that lot going into "downtown" College Park to run errands or get lunch resulted in a few door dings.

I have one guy who does all the PDR on my wehicles, he works miracles. He has been in the trade for years, and just recently started his own business. He does the work for many local dealerships and on many highline automobiles. PM me and I'll send you his contact info. I've seen a lot of dent guys come through the dealer here, and he is by far the best I've seen.

I can set something up for you guys with Dentmaster's. We work with them at our shop in Tyson's. They are very good. I can get them to cut deals for a group. Give me a date and I'll set it up.

How has the work Dentmaster's has done been for you guys? Do you know if they would service us all on a weekend? That or going with rice_wrx's dent removal guy seem to be the best bets. Let me know if this would all work out and we can firm up a date from there.

What's the market average you guys have seenaround here for dents and dings that are smaller than a silver dollar?

The shop I work at still uses dentmasters ... actually I used to work with the founders of the company. In all honesty, some of their guys are good, and some are not. The guy I use worked for them for years, then left and started his own company. I seen a lot of PDR guys, and IMO he is one of the best.
I think having a day to get together, get estimates, and schedule appointments may be a better idea, as good work can take a good bit of time. I've seen him spend hours on one car just to get it as close to perfect as possible.
As far as price goes, PDR is not real cheap...it all depends on how bad the dents are, how many, and how hard they are to get to. Also ...keep in mind that aluminum is harder to work with, so hood dings are often a little more pricy (not to mention the amount of bracing under the hood).
Lemme know if you all would like to try and set something up.

I would be up for something like this but also would need to get an estimate for the cost of removing a couple of shopping cart attacks on my fender. I have no idea how much we're talking about here.

I would run with Hypnotk's idea of doing it at the Dentmasters shop in Tysons. The guys that work at their shops are their best guys and do amazing work.

I know Richie from DM and he works at their Manassas shop, I can get a hookup from him if anybody is a little further west.
