Default 2002 WRX ECU in a 2003??

My 2002 WRX has a production date of 04/2001. Will the ECU work in only a 2002?

Thanks,
Frankie

Actually Scotty, I believe it's the reverse. An 02 ECU will work in an 03 since they are the same except for one sensor that was added in 03, so the 02 ECU won't be looking for it. However if you put an 03 ECU in an 02 it will result in a permanent CEL due to the missing sensor.
Someone who knows for sure can correct me if I'm wrong.

As its been said, 03 ECu in an 02 is a no go. 02 ECU in an 03 is aok. The 02 ECU isn't looking for the extra input, where the 03 is.

Ecutek would matter if it was used in a 03 and retuned?
