Default Any way to get sensor data from a 1997 US Impreza?

I have an issue with my old daily driver. If I could only read sensor data with the TARI Racing Software like I can from my STI my world would be a better place. Does anybody know of any cheap (free!) way to pull realtime sensor data from a MY97 Impreza L?

Maybe Alex Peper's Vehicle Explorer freeware (see here or here) or the Ross-Tech VAG-COM shareware (see here) will work with your Tactrix OpenPort. The program at http://obddiagnostics.com/ProgWin.html might be worth a shot if neither of the above pan out.

Why the duplicate threads?

So, to make amends, promise to try the suggested software and let us know whether any works.

This interface also works with Alex's software

http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/obdii_hardware.htm

I've sucessfully cleared trouble codes with this interface on older cars.

Can someone confirm if the hardware available through the site above will work with the Tari software for both logging and reflashing? It would be nice to build the reader into the dash somwhere, tapped into the OBD connector, and just have a 232 port on the passenger side to plug into.

Thanks,
Steve

Well, the access port cable and TARI software combo do NOT work on the 97 impreza.

On a different, but related question. Is anyone aware of potential problems using Tari with a Canadian WRX? I'm assuming there are some slight ECU differences for calibration reasons, but in general I would figure them to be the same.

Thanks,
Steve
