Default What is the best way to make a cast in order to make a fiberglass mould?

What is the best way to make a cast in order to make a fiberglass mould? I had been thinking about using sculptors clay to make one side of the mould, then firing it to keep it the same shape, but size distortions may take place.
I donít have access to a plastic press, so thatís out of the picture.

Any other suggestions? Iím trying to make a cast of a panel piece on our cars so I can experiment with reshaping or restyling it without destroying a fairly expensive piece.

Thank you in advance!

Bry.

First of all, what are you trying to do? You probably could make a wood sub frame, if it's a big item like a subwoofer enclosure. You might try to find some large pieces of styrofoam, cut/shape it, then cover it with Saran wrap. Cover it once with a thin layer and let it harden completely, then go to town.
