Default gd knuckles fit a gc?

so my local junkyard has a 05' wrx with some ugly side damage. i was going to steal the brakes but i thought i'd check some things. i thought that the front cailpers had a mounting bracket that spaces them away from the rotor, but

thease dont have them (the rotors arent with them, maybe they were taken too?). do they have brackets or do they just bolt to knuckle? i think that the knuckles (front and rear) will bolt right up to the old style subbies but i thought i'd ask before spending the cash to be sure. also, will the master cylinder work,

or so i need the whole booster too? i didnt really look at it but would i run into an issues with the abs stuff ? i dont really know if subarus have a abs motor or if its a master cylinder thing since mine doesnt have one.

I know the rears bolt right up (I used WRX ones for my drum-to-disc swap). Don't screw with the master cylinder if you don't have to. I don't think the WRX one is all that much bigger. If anything, go with an SVX one.

I don't know about 05. But i do know that 04's fit the GC's. From the parts cache i have laying around, i needed a front wheel bearing badly for my 95 L. Being the nut that i am.. I decided to see if maybe some of the parts from the 04wrx would work. Took the old knuckle off, grabbed the 04, held them side to side..

And sho nuff. Exactly the same minus 1 thing. The 04 has the hole for the abs wheel speed sensor in the casting. No problem. Slapped it on, worked perfectly. Hell even my alignment didn't change.

I happen to need the rear driver's side knuckle/hub/bearing assembly. Would you be willing to pull those parts for me? I'll pay for shipping, the actual cost, and whatever labor costs you would like to see. I can't find these parts anywhere locally. thanks.

Splines for the axles, or bolt pattern? The GD's were 5x100, until the 05 STi.. I don't know about the wrx from that year.

The actual thread pitch on the wheel studs changed at some point.. Cause the 04 knuckle i put on my car was different from the 95 version.

Everything should be the same except for some minor changes for stregth. I have a 93, 95 and have a set of JDM STi ver.7 spec. C front hubs and R180 rear setup under my 93. I have switched hubs between the two cars keeping the same wheels and lugs that were originally on each car with zero problems. The WRX braks will fit. The 4-pots will fit, and for those that don't like the brembos or don't want to be stuck running 17's if you shave down the brembo disk you can mount the rear group N 2-pot right on the r-180 rear hub.

go to car car-part.com you can get hubs from any legacy, impreza, froester(exc.wrxsti)from 89-05 any maybe 06 too all will fit on your car for sure (i recently put 04 wrx spindels in the front of my 93 impreza l and 02 forester hubs in the rear 50 a corner from a local junkyard
only difference is the hole for the abs sensor

So hubs are all the same? No alignment issues or anything? doesn't push anything out?

I've got axles attached to JDM 02 hubs and its looking like it'd be easier just to put everything up together and swap out the hubs.

i had no alignment issues putting an 04 knuckle on my 95. If you start swapping control arms and crap like that, then you'll run into problems

front track i didnt notice a differance. the GD knuckle is superior to the GC, unless you have a STi-RA ver 2 Gc8 front knuckle :P

i actually swapped my ra ver 2 gc8's for GDBs, and would do it again for slight reasons (arguably better, arguably not)

What about using Legacy knuckles on an Impreza? I know someone has tried it. What are the results? I was told that they are better than even the GD's.

early Sti-RA has really light forged knuckles with kinda a I forging like a rod. no abs hole either.

legacy seems to be identical to impreza, although my experiances are limited mainly to impreza. legacy r160 rear knuckles seem identical to gc8 though.

GDB (at least the ones on my carjdm v8 5x100) have brace webing of sorts. i have a picture somewhere, will find and post when the chance appears. stiffer for sure, heavier though. if you were building a drag monster that didnt need to stop......

perhaps the bearings are biggor. perhaps they are the same. i not in the know.

5x114 should be slightly differnt im thinking.

it seems also that the geometry was revised ever so slightly. my steering wheel dead spot seemed a little smaller and the turn in was a litle easier (not better, just seemed easier). caster?

wasn't one of the main reasons for subaru switching from the 5x100 to 5x114 primarily to be able to use a larger wheel bearing? Thats what i've heard and been told.
