Default benefits of using two different engine management systems?

Hey guys i was wondering what is the benefit of running two different types of engine management. I see some peoples setup as having a ecutek/utec or accessport/utec. Is there any benefit to this.

the benefits are that the reflash "locks down" the values more. when tuning with a utec you sometimes notice that when the ecu has control, it can go crazy with timing for example. this can cause knock when control transitions back to the utec.
