I did this about a week after I got my WRX, and I was so pleased it hurt. Thanks for the quick tip.

Ive done this before, very simple fix.

You can slip on a red bulb cover when it is open to change them to RED if you have an STi cluster!

I spoke too soon...

The hubby tried to use these instructions on our '01 2.5RS...it's not the same set-up, he says, and won't work. He thinks he's going to have to open up the dash

Thanks, anyway, dcwrx2. It looks pretty similar to me...just shows ya what I know.

Any advice? Are we missing something or is it just too different from the WRX in this sticky?

Thumbs up Kudos for this thread

Changed my bulb out today for my cruise control switch with the Radio Shack bulbs. My local store didn't have them in stock so they ordered some in the store and had it delivered to my house for free (ordered Monday evening and it arrived Thursday). I winded changing out the bulb that lights up the fog light switch, too, because I noticed the new bulb in the cruise control switch was brighter

To alleviate the problem of not lighting up the entire switch with the shorter bulb, I simply left the bulb up higher in the blue socket and then wrapped the wires. Worked like a charm. Thanks again for the write-up

Just did mine as well. Glad I put of visiting the dealer. $2 replaced both bulbs in the cruise so I now know if the cruise is turned on or not. Need to buy another pack to replace the one bulb in the foglight switch and we shall be golden.

Can we sticky it? It's the only detailed instruction set on how to change the switch light bulbs....

There's a link in one of the stickied threads, this is how I found it. Nice to have that indicator again.

Anyone know how the setup is on the GC RS? The light on my fog button is out and I'm going to attempt to replace it on my next day off.. If I can figure out how to do it, I will post it here. In the meantime, any tips are appreciated.

Update! For those who care, the fog/cruise buttons on the RS are set up exactly the same way as the ones in the original pics. It's a very easy and cheap fix, I ended up just replacing all 4 bulbs for under $4. Thanks for the write-up op!

I opened up the fog light switch box and put everything back - for some reason switch is not working anymore. Any idea why this may be the case?

Can it be due to the fact that I may have used the wrong LED? notice how wire is thicker.

I have an extra pack of the Radio Shack bulbs (unopened) left over from when I had my WRX. PM me if you want them. I'll let them go for $2 shipped.

SOLD

Switch does not work, or light/LED?
LED is directional, as it is Light Emitting DIODE. You have to keep it in correct polarity, otherwise it won't light up/conduct electricity.

3.5 years after I wrote this DIY fix, guess what, my foglight switch has burnt bulb too! LOL!

The one I fixed for the Cruise Control switch, still works after 3.5 years. =)

Now I understand why RadioShack sells these bulbs in a pair of 2. Coz I'll need them eventually! Oh wait, I may need to buy one more pair because the foglight switch has two bulbs inside!!

Nice write up, thanks from downunder . I'll use the info in this thread to help change the fog light switch, cruise switch and rear fog light (Aussie and JDM models) switch bulbs to red to match the rest of the interior lights and STi cluster

Bump this up, great info. I need to do my cruise and fog light buttons, they are both burnt out.

Somebody posted in this thread that they fixed their hazard button with the same bulbs. The little "triangle" in the hazard button in my MY03 has never lit up since I bought the car a few years ago. Is it supposed to?
