Cool Awesome Event

I went to the Subaru Only event in SoCal this past weekend and we HAVE to do the same here...where is the nearest EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Orietation Center (???)) where they train the police to drive?

At the event we had a wet skid pad, and three other stations that helped teach you, your automobiles limits.

There was a dry skid-pad, a 0-60-0 test, and a turning test.

Rally Knight, Byron and Vickey (B-Spec) and many of the Members of the California Rally Series, even Sports Compact Car was there...besides the 75 subaru entrants.

There were many WRX'es with body kits (almost) as nice as Alex
(but they didn't have his turbo mods or brakes)

I know the police use the old Alameda Naval Air Base as a training facility, there's a TON of space there. You can see the area from the Alameda skatepark. I've seen cops out there tons of times while I was skating and it doesn't see much use, other than cops and filming for the Matrix 2 and 3. I don't know how hard it would be to secure the area for a day of Suby fun, but I would be down with helping to organize such an event. Let me know.

My recommendation is get a hold of John Kelly (I will talk to him myself at the SCCA event on Sunday). He is the person incharge of renting the areas we use for autocrossing events. There is more to it than just renting an area and he knows all the loop holes. It's just a matter of $$$$ and a good turn out. Can we afford such an event ? You bet we can if all will attend. It would have to be an SCCA sanction if he decides to do it and attendies have to be members. That would be more fun now would it. Reason why we need SCCA is the insurance requirements. What they are asking is way out of this world. But SCCA, NASA and other orgs can sponsor us, They have the insurance bond reqs that will comply to the facility. We just need a good number of attendees. So get with who you know club wise and lets all make this happen we can even have a DRIFTING contest we at Red Star Racing will sponsor the Thropies for the contests and we can all pick who the judges will be. ( Bozz perf folks,M2 folks, Red Star folks, B spec, Shiv and Alex the impresident etc.) All the tuners can be the official judges, One rep per shop would do and of course the Impresident has to be one, He has to no choice here,LOL. My two cents.

Thanks

Gino

For the record, I would love to do something like this. Also, since it's car safety and control it should be real easy to gain clearance from the wifely types

We can do this but it may be a TWO day event...so we have to do things the significant other can do, or nearby shopping Wait a minute, I like shopping too!
