Post anyone ever have this problem starting your RS?

Ok, so i go out to leave my house, push in my clutch, put in the key, and turn it. Nothing. Kinda like the battery is dead, but it's not. All my accessories work fine, etc, but no engine start. It doesnt even click or anything. So, I disconnected my battery for like 30 seconds, reconnected, an bam it worked. So now like 4 days later, same thing...disconnected for like 30 seconds, nothing. Now I'm just resetting the ECU and hopeing thats the problem?? Hmm...otherwise I dont know what the hell it could be!! I'm figuring if it works when i re-connect the battery and it happens again, I'll just have to take it down to the dealer and have them try to find out what it is...

anyone have any idea what it could be???? thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!

My 95 does the same thing... I just take of the handbrake, jiggle the wheel, move the gear selector... one of those things will get it going... as for what it is, I don't have a clue, it's never done it for the mechanics so they can't help me.

Do you have a security system installed? Maybe you have a problem with the starter-kill relay.

I had this problem. Then my dumba$$ figured out it was the combination of aftermarket pedals (the retaining scres were too long on the back) and my floor mats were riding too high. basically it was not allowing the clutch to go all the way to the floor. I moved the mat and cut the screw. prob solved.

Maybe a floormat is in the way, so you can't step on the clutch all the way. Make sure there are no obstacles. I had this situation once or twice when I couldn't start the engine because of a floor mat.

If not, maybe the switch on the clutch is defective so it has good days and bad days.

Well, my impreza will not start if the clutch is not in. If I try to start the ignition while it's in neutral or something, it refuses to turn over. My guess is that something to do with the device that detects that the clutch is all the way in and allows the ignition to engage.

EDIT: Doh! Didn't see you had the problem solved ... my bad

well, not completely solved, just narrowing down the reasons! :-) after i reset ecu, still didn't work. So i tried playing with the alarm, i think that MIGHT be a problem cause: lock, unlock, turn key...nothing...lock, unlock turn key nothing...lock, unlock, turn key...VRROOM...so i turn it off again, lock, unlock, no start. REPEAT, VRROMMM...and ever since it's been starting fine... soo hmm...i think it may be a clutch sensor like some of u guys say...cause i did push the clutch in a lot during the process ya know? so as long as i can get around without having too many problems until i can get it in the dealer...
