Default car noise from starting in really cold weather?

Well, I figure since we all live in the New England area on this forum, that I can ask and probably get a good answer, considering most if not all you guys are waking up to a ridiculously cold morning like I do. Anyways, I've only had my WRX for a few days, but today was the first day of starting it in the early morning, and I have to tell you, there's a reall loud screech noise that only lasts for maybe 2-3 seconds, but I'm not sure if there's something wrong or not, there's no check engine light or anything, is this normal? I'm running like the lowest quality gas as well, because the dealership pumped it with crap-gas that I intend on filling back up with premium... if that matters at all.

Sounds like a belt.

But I would take it back to the dealership to have them look at it just because you can .

my belts make noise when it's really cold out like today, i wouldn't sweat it and spend time to go to the stealership.

Probably belts, if it was high-pitched. If you heard a clacking with it, then it was probably oil being too thick and valves not getting lubricated. But once it gets running, you should be fine. On a side note, for all of you running your subies in really cold weather, try Marvel Mystery Oil; seems to do wonders for cold weather starts - JMHO.

Sucks that the dealership I bought it from is an hour and a half away on a ****ty road... oh well, I still have a warranty that lasts until next year, so I'm going to take advantage of it.

I'm 99.9% sure its the belt(s)...since my wifes forester does it (w/ new belts) and mine does it (w/ new belts).

Marvel and BG44K are the only "additives" I'll put in my cars, and I can attest to how wonderful both products are

Yeah i get that odd sound too when it's very cold. I think it's more like the oil pump trying to pump the thick oil. Gotta love the the stiff clutch pedal and shifter too.

I said the same thing to a coworker as we were walking back to the parking garage today.
