Default Immobilizer ignition fitment issues

I installed the immobilizer ignition from an MY05 Legacy GT in my MY97 impreza for the swap and the back end uses a connector where the stock one was welded on. The connector on the new ignition interfers with the tilt wheel mechanism. Has anyone else encountered this? What did they do? I'm sure I can figure something out but I have so much to do I would rather go with a proven methond. Thanks,
Joshua
