Default fxt tranny into gm6, what all do i need

im about to buy a fxt tranny and rear diff but im not sure what else ill need to do the swap. i believe the axles are different but do they use the same end that goes into the wheel hubs or will i need those aswell? clutch is different so will i need the clutch lever/actuator? what about driveshaft, and tranny mounts? and will my flywheel still work. also i have a short shifter and front and rear bushings not yet installed, are they going to be garbage to me?

any help would be appreciated.

If your car is already a manual, you'll need: Transmission, Driveshaft (I can't remember if the flange on the rear diff is different from your current differential), Front Axles, Rear Axles (I don't recall if they're different or not), Rear Differential, Clutch Slave Cylinder, Flywheel and Clutch Assembly.

If your car is an Automatic you'll need: Transmission, Driveshaft, the rear diff is already a 4.44, so you won't need that, Clutch, Flywheel, Clutch Master, Clutch Slave, Pedal Assembly, Complete Shifter Assembly with the rear shifter bushing (The one that mounts to the car), Transmission Mount, Transmission Crossmember, Starter, Flywheel bolts (The manual ones are about 1/2 - 3/4" longer than the Automatic ones), shifter trim to go around the shifter, you'll need to wire in the neutral switch and the reverse switch.

If the transmission doesn't come with the clutch fork, you're going to need the fork, slide pin for the fork, and the plug that holds it all in.

ok. find out if the FXT rear diff is a limited slip, i think it is.

Haha, You're wrong on the front axles. The FXT front axles have the stub shafts built onto the axle instead of them being part of the transmission. So he will either need to get new diff seals and buy stub shafts from the dealer, or hell have to get the FXT front axles. The FXT should have a 4.44 Viscous LSD for the rear. His RS should have a 4.11 VLSD in the rear.

The FXT Axles are MALE on the Transmission and Hub side, and the transmission has female ends.

The RS axles have a female end with a roll pin that goes through (Has been this way from at least 1980 until 2003/2004) and a male end on the hub end. The transmission has the male part sticking out from it. That pick should illustrate that. Sometimes I hate trying to explain things without pictures because I suck at it
