Many teams have spread out salaries and bonuses over many years. 2006 would be the only remaining year of the current CBA and there would be a cap of 96 million next year. Without a CBA extension and those additional CBA years to extend those bonus and contracts over, all $$ would then apply to the 2006 cap.

All I know is that Danny Snyder's worst nightmare is about to come true by the end of Thursday unless of course an agreement is reached before than.

Yes, all the contracts and signing bonuses that have been stretched out for 4-5 years in order to fit under the cap the past few years will all come due and hit next year's cap number. That is if I am interpreting all this correctly, which I think I am.

The experts have been saying that if the cap is at 95-96 million, Snyder will have to trim about 20 million off (they are currently at 115 million). This possibly translates to Danny Boy having to field 20 rookies for next season Let the fun begin!

Unfortunately, I am Redskin fan. Not a Snyder fan though.

Ahhh but the consolation for you is that if there is no cap for 2007, then the Redskins should be sitting pretty according to Snyder's style of spending.

Which is exactly what makes football great and baseball awful.
