Did those files help you complete the wiring?

not to thread jack, but what about putting a jdm sti ver7 cluster into a 2000 rs? Would I have to change the wiring, or would it plug right in?

I'll probably try to do that. I'm actually in the process of swaping a ver7 sti engine in, hence using the ver7 cluster to match. Maybe over the weekend I'll try it. Might even try fitting the guage bezel from the wrx onto the rs just to see if I'd have to trim it.

Hey Mick, yes they did help, everything seems pretty strait forward, except for the tack signal from the speed sensor. On the rs it gets two wires to the tack, on the forester only 1, I'll post the diagrams up later today and show you what I mean.

Ok, I'm don't have a scanner to put the 1998 Forester Cluster diagram up, but here is the RS diagram and the comparison of pins I've made. Everything is pretty simple, except the Vehicle Speed Sensor, on the forester it has two wires, on the rs it has 1, I'm a bit confused, if anyone has any insight, can you please enlighten me.
Thanks
Frazer

You know, I'm doing almost the same thing (STI Ver5/6 cluster into my 98 2.5RS). Here's the pinouts that I've written down:

Cluster Function---------98 2.5RS----2000 2.5RS
ABS light--------------------C6-----------A5
Airbag Light------------------B7-----------B14
AT Oil Temp-----------------C3-----------A2
Battery Charge--------------A12-----------C17
Check Engine Light-----------A8-----------C18
Clock------------------------B1-----------B8
Common GND----------------C10-----------A10
Fuel gauge to ECU-----------C2-----------A8
FWD (TCM)------------------C5-----------A4
GROUND---------------------B2-----------C13
Hi-Beam 1-------------------A5-----------C1
Hi-Beam 2-------------------A6-----------C2
Hold (TCM)------------------C7-----------A3
Illumination GND-------------C1-----------C3
Illumination Light------------A13-----------C4
Left door switch------------B10-----------B5
Left Turn Signal-------------B3-----------B13
Lo (AWD) switch------------C9-----------A7
Oil Pressure Light------------A9-----------C14
Parking Brake & Fluid light----A11-----------C6
POWER - Fusebox 23 no2----B8-----------C8
Power (TCM)----------------C8-----------A6
POWER +12VDC-------------B6-----------C7
Right door switch-----------B9-----------B6
Right Turn Signal------------A9-----------B15
Seat Belt light--------------B5-----------B7
Tach----------------------A10-----------C9
TCM & ECM----------------C12-----------A1
Temp Gauge---------------C11-----------A9
*************************************
POWER - FB-21 (no9 - clock)----C13-----------N/C
Low Fuel Warning light----------C4-----------N/C
Speed sensor 2-1---------------A1-----------N/C
Speed sensor 2-2---------------A3-----------N/C
TCM----------------------------A2-----------C10

The problem lies within the speed sensor. In the 99-2001 2.5RS, the 2nd speed sensor is tied to the transmission control module before it is sent to the cluster. On the 98 2.5RS, the speed sensor is tied directly to the cluster. Also the low fuel warning light is tied into the fuel gauge circuit on the 99-2001 cluster. Hope this helps you out.

TCM should only be for automatics.

Pin 1 (GY) goes to c10 on the i12 connector
Pin 3 (GB) goes to c7 on the i12 connector
Pin 2 is your power wire for the VSS

This is for a 2000/2001 RS 5mt.

Pin1,2,3 correspond to the VSS for a manual tranny

My pins look different from yours because I'm doing it from a forester, basically the same idea though. How is yours coming along?

I fixed that thing up a little bit better. I added the colors of the wires. I just forgot to get the colors for A1, A2, and A3 before i pulled my wires out. If anybody knows that info that would be cool.
