I am going to order my crossmember tomorrow for my V2 swap and have been reading as much as possible on this subject but can't find any definite answers. Functionally, other than the shimming, are there any other pro's or con's for using one over the other? I would tend to think sway bar's and mounts would be easier and cheaper to get a hold for the wrx crossmember. I have read contradicting threads regarding the legacy crossmember fitting with a wrx swaybar as well though. I am just really confused, I would like to order the legacy unit but don't want to have dick with finding a legacy sway bar to fit. Please inform so I can go down to Subaru in the morning and order one up. Thanks guys!

So wait, your deciding whether or not to get either crossmember because of what swaybar to use? First, I used the legacy turbo crossmember for my swap, direct bolt-in, for a WRX one, you have to use spacers for the control arms. The crossmember didn't affect the front swaybar at all. Cusco makes a front swaybar for the GC with either the WRX/Legacy crossmember, and you can use almost any front endlinks for the front swaybar. I would go that route.

I'd go for the legacy turbo x-member, if you dont mind paying a little more. You already have so much to do with the swap, whats the point of spending extra time dealing with the shims

The shimming of the LCA mounting is the only thing that is going to be different.
The only issue with the swaybars....and I'm not even sure it is.....is between the WRX wagon & sedan. I know the sedan has a wider stance, but don't know if the sway bar mounting stayed the same between the sedan & wagon LCA's. If they did, then there is no difference in swaybars between the WRX & tleg. If they're not the same, you'd just need to make sure to get a bar for a WRX wagon. |

Is it the one for the wrx sedan, wagon, gc8 sti, or legacy fitment? Whiteline lists them all as different part numbers.

I believe they list the BSF18 for the turbo legacy. It has a bend in it....for what reason I don't know. I'm currently running the BSF20 on my turbo legacy crossmember, and it's straight across. Works fine. The bends are there on the n/a setup to clear the headers. Pics of the BSF18 http://www.main.experiencetherave.co...tiswaybar1.jpg http://www.main.experiencetherave.co...tiswaybar2.jpg BSF20 http://www.main.experiencetherave.co...ages/ej22t/14/ The WRX ones will probably work, but the ends may be setup for the newer style drop links. |
