Default sti block wrx heads please read

i did a search ,and i did find some topics ,but i want to have my situation talked about . i am going with an sti short block, and i am going to use my wrx heads.i am not looking for 400 whp . i am going to stay with the turbo that i was using on the 2.0 a 1st gen pe 1820. i am thinking of going with the helix 264 cams with new spring and retainers also. it is the kit for 999 from gruppe-s. i guess i am looking for input from people that have done this swap . did anyone do this and just use stock wrx heads with no upgrades ,or with wrx heads with helix cams. please help me decide.gruppe-s thinks i should make around 340 awhp and close to 400 awtq on thier dyno with the cams in wrx heads. which on other dynos that means 20 to 30 more wheel hp an tq really though experience with these options will be very heplful to me in deciding what to do . sorry for the grammar 20 years away from school do this to an old person

Hello,

Those numbers seem very high but we did tune one of these combos a couple weeks ago. It depends on the turbo but this package's peak numbers should be comparable to a USDM STi motor's peak numbers. I would guess 310/320 at the wheels on our dyno with a TD06-20G / Green / SZ49 on 91.

Thanks,

Geoff

My friends 02 has a usdm 2.5 with stock heads and a greddy turbo,20g I think. It put down 325whp and 378wtq at 3800 rpms on a mustang awd dyno. That was with ecutek tuning.

Let your tuner/dyno operator know you're using WRX heads. The USDM WRX heads are 7 cc's smaller in chamber volume than USDM STI heads, therefore the compression ratio will be higher. If he tunes for a lower compression engine, you can hurt the engine very easily due to an overly aggressive timing map.
