Default Dash Swap HELP!

I'm doing a complete 03 wrx swap into my 1998 RS. The engine and harness is not the problem.

I have come into the issue of the Dash bar. I am swapping the complete dash over as well, and need to know if there are any modifications that are needed when doing this. We have not been able to mount the bar into the RS in the stock spots, and are curious of what people have done to fix this problem.. thanks in advance for your help..

and yes i did a search and nothing has come up that would help me out.

eric

there's a guy over on rs25 that's done it a few times, east coast swapers I think. From what I remember you have to move the bar down a few inches or something to that effect. so basically you wont use the stock RS mounting points, going to have to drill & tap some holes.

probably going to have to do a lot of test fitting.

looks sweet when it's all done

Your going to have to trim the 03 dash bar. In the center of the bar, where it bolts to the trans tunnel, there are four holes on the bar.The bottom two need to be cut off. You might need to trim it up a little to so it fits properly. Now the dash is at the right height.
Next, cut off all the studs on the chassis,(where the bar bolts to the door area). Then mount and bolt the bar into the chassis using the lower floor (two) bolts.
Now you should be able to move the whole bar back and forth.
Now take a level and ruler and square up the top of the bar using C-clamps to hold it in position.
Take a drill and using the holes in the 03 dash bar drill out the chassis sides.
Finally using carrage bolts slip them through the chassis holes and tack weld them in place. These will be your "new" studs.

He (we) use the WRX one. Maybe he wasn't sure which one you were trying to use?

update: after actually doing this we came to find a easier way to get the dash to fit without having to cut the studs and re-weld "studs" (bolts)

there will be a write up with pictures after i'm done with the swap
