The manufacturer's suggested retail prices of the True Red style RX-8 models are 3,097,500 yen for the six-speed manual transmission model and 3,034,500 yen for the four-speed Activematic automatic transmission model, both including the sales tax.

am I blind, but what the heck is the difference between that and a regular RX-8. They have realeased more special editions of this car with the same standard everything. A new color really does not get my heart beating. If you have ever driven this car, its phenominal. It takes the Mazda essence of a car that is quick but not fast and makes it an incredible car to drive. What fun! But at least give it a body kit if it its going to be a special addition.

In 6 months we will be seeing..

New Rising Sun orange RX-8.. blah blah, same engine.. blah blah, same suspension.. but blazing orange paint, and orange stickers on the dash..

I completely agree. Seems the only thing different about this car is the color and it does not have a two-tone interior. Though that was optional anyway I believe. Might as well just name option packages as different special editions.

That car does have a nice interior. Too bad instead of red paint and leatherr seats to bring out the sporty nature, they forgot to add power to the engine compartment.

If you are the kind who think revving an engine beyond 4k is hurting something, a rotary engine is not for you. This car is every bit as fast as a 350Z or G35 on a road course.

I think what Optimus means is that this is just a 'looks' package and some more power might help the car's 'sporty image' more than changing the color scheme.

I have driven one an I thought it was slow. I didn't have high expectations and wasn't comparing it to my STi. I expected it to feel like a G35...but it felt significantly slower than that.

The RX-8 kicks butt against the G35 and 350Z in AX.

The rotary engine has no torque, so you really have to keep the revs high. And if you were driving the AT version than it's even worst. The RX-8 is a great handling car and about 400lbs lighter than the 350Z/G35 but it can't really keep up with them in the straight line.

Give us some power already! They have consistently given the markets every last thing BUT power. Makes me yearn for my 1973 RX2 with a holley 4 barrel. Didnt have torque, but who cares when you can bring it to 12000 RPM and get from 70-130 MPH faster than your 17 year old mind can unstick itself from the back of the inside of your skull.

Anyone else getting tired of auto makers doing interior upgrades and calling it a special edition. Its a trim package at best, nothing special.
