Default GC8 w/EJ20 exhaust

Simple question...Will a cat back exhaust made for a GD chassis WRX line up properly on a GC8 with an EJ20 swap or am I going to have to make custom piping?

I put a Greddy Evo2 on mine and had to weld a 3 inch extension to the stock downpipe for it to reach. Later I put a Meaghan dp on and it bolted right up without modification. The hangers don't all line up, but if you hold the muffler up with a couple kartboys, you won't need the rest.

so as far as the cat-back is concerned I would just need to relocate the hangers?
Im asking because I found a GD chassis exhaust that is probably around $200 cheaper than most GC exhausts I've seen.

As long as you are using a USDM WRX downpipe, you can use any USDM WRX catback. However, only one hanger mount will not fit on the GC chassis because the GD hanger is lower.

For the USDM swaps, you can use any USDM WRX turboback and it will fit.

Hope this helps.

Gary

Yeah, like I said, if you just use stiff hangers in the back, you won't need the one in the middle.

or you can do what I did and talk to Rich at MadDad. He can talk to the shop that makes his stuff and they'll put the correct hanger points on for you.

The rear hanger on the axleback section of the catback has the hanger flipped 180 degrees and a slight difference in height. As mentioned you can still use a late model WRX catback less that one hanger but you'd want to use something stronger like the Kartboy's as mentioned.
