Angry Another wing stolen...

Well, it seems like its an epidemic here in Ottawa.

This morning as I was headed to the gym, I noticed something "missing" from my scooby. My rear wing was stolen during the night. I guess the huge thunderstorm masked my alarm... I hate this...

Robin,

I have been on an extended vacation, so I couldn't get the pics scanned yet. I'll try to get then done ASAP. Also, who has had their wings stolen then replaced here in Ottawa?

Carlo

Default Not good!

Man that sucks!
I'm starting to get a little worried now. How many has that been in the Ottawa area alone? Either way it's too many.
Is there any way to fasten them a little more securely?
Is there any damage done to your car as a result of the wing theft?
Sorry to hear about this by the way
Chad

Hey Carlo, sorry to hear about your misfortune,

I may have a coupe spoiler for sale soon if my deal for the Prodrive wing pans out. But my spoiler is RBP.

Again sorry to hear about your spoiler, I hate it when other people don't respect your things

Some damage to my car. Trunk obviously, small dents on the trunk facing and depressions where the wing used to be attached to my car. Some dents on the driver side rear panel too.

I think we should form a support group since so many of us have been victimized :P

How are the wings mounted on the GC8's?

I take it they're not bolted on?

Stolen wings seems to be a common occurence.

Default That sucks!

There's actually quite a bit of people who had them ripped off....

I think that's about 8 or 9 of I know..... The OEM wing will shock you (price wise)..... I think Alain said it was $1800....

I know most who had them ripped off lived downtown or had their car parked outside.... one guy had his ripped off twice in one month.....

Call around and see what you can get.... are you going through your insurance company? Call Lachute (www.lac-ss.com) if you want to go aftermarket and cheaper (in price).....

FYI, the stock wing is ~$1200, the brake light is ~$500. The total repair bill is $3100... I will surely look into the aftermarket wings.

Going rate for a stock coupe wing used in great shape is about 200-250 Canadian. Including the brake light of course. (I paid 200 for mine, BRP, very good condition.)

WTH is going on in Ottawa??? Audio theft, wing theft...what else???

I am sorry to hear your lost, and i am worried for my car now. I will have a wing installed at Lachute tomorrow.

IMO, go for Aftermarket wing to save some bucks.

Hate those thefts!

There's a tan Nissan Sentra that I've seen around Carleton campus with a big Nismo windshield banner and what looks like an RS wing. I'll have to get closer to it when its parked and see if it really is. If it is, I'll grab the plate number, and maybe we can do something about it.

Sasquatch: I go to Carleton too! Where do you park and where do you see that Nissan Sentra? I can help and see if it's an RS wing or not.

I park Garage L10-13.

I'm way out in Anniversary Park, the dirt lot out by lot 6. I've never seen the car parked, I've only see it driving around, usually going in or out of the Rez Commons waiting area. I'm going to keep my eyes open next time I see it to see if it has a Carleton parking pass and if it does what colour, that way we know what lot it is, and can search for it later.

hey sorry to hear about your misfortune ....

what is is with Ottawa and car thieves anyways ..... everyone I know who lives there and/or goes to school there, something always happens to their cars (hooked up or not)

Even I, my Civic was broken into there the first week I had my car. Went up to visit the gf while she was working in Ottawa, and it was like damn ..... knock on wood, but I haven't even had a problem in Toronto .......

Luckily my gf quit her job in Ottawa and my car is safe ..... but watch out boys and get some security cameras mounted on you garage roof or house roof ...... the car thieving in Ottawa is seriously an epidemic in my opinion.

anyways, take care .....

Well, luckily I'm not too worried about it with my old girl, 92 Legacy. My biggest worry is actually my hellas on the bumper, they've already been kicked around once.

Yes, I had the same thing happen to me. I have tracked down a few cars and when I get a hold of on of them parked, I am going to rip it off just like they did with mine, just I'll leave it sitting there for them, in pieces of course.

You guys are getting ripped off out there. I talked to Centaur Subaru in Calgary & they said $1485 plus GST (color coded, installed w/ light) drive away. Of course that does not include a new boot lid painted to match, just the OEM coupe wing on any non-wagon.

Sorry about your luck friend.
