Default 90-94 Legacy Ecus Manual And Auto

Hi All,

Does anyone know the parts numbers SUBARU and JECS for the ist gen NA legacy's 90 -94 and will the auto ecus work in manuals and vica versa and how interchangable are they, this might sound like a stupid question but i'm interested to know, and what is the extra 28 pin socket inside the do , is this for some sort of upgrade? i repair electronics have designed electronics so I know a little here but know very little of automotive ecus.

maybe there is a link on the net with the part numbers and some tech info?

Hope someone can help

cheers

Paul,

The Auto & Manual ECU's are different. The auto ecu's are made by JECS, and have associated sensors to match the ECU. The manual ecu's are made by Hitachi, and again have associated sensors specific to them.

The breakdown of the 90-94 legacies is as follows:

90-91 MT n/a Legacy - Hitachi ECU
90-94 AT n/a Legacy - JECS ECU
92-94 MT n/a Legacy - JECS ECU
91-94 MT & AT turbo Legacy - Hitachi ECU

As for part #'s, I'd recommend you come on over to www.bbs.legacycentral.org

You'll find a lot of info over there.
