<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">The speed limited is a programmed part of the ECU... you cannot change it without piggyback electronics or changing out the ECU altogether. That being said, you can find quite an array of such items at http://www.grahamgoode.com

Is this speed limiter a random thing? I've had all three of my subaru's ('91 Legacy, '00 RS, '01 RS) beyond 120 MPH. On private roads, of course.

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Not random, no- you just manged to have 3 cars that never had them . The 1998 RS and the Impreza L's up to 99 I believe all have a limiter at 112mph. Several other years had them too, I just know that the early 90's Legacy's did not, nor did the RS after 00.

I was on a local "air strip" and had my car according to the Mustang I was pacing to 130, the needle was well beyond the 120MPh marking, but who knows, maybe he was just yanking me, but hey when the needle goes almost straight down you know you are going fast.

as Hpi said, i also have had my car needle pointing almost down with revs at 5,750. i cant get the revs to go any higher, or my car to go any faster. I dont know what my car is limited to, but damn i was BOOTIN, and i never thought i could, but at very high end speeds 107mph+, my GT pulls away from the RS's at a decent rate too!

Why does everyone say that the 98 RS is limited at 112mph. I go faster than that in mine at least once a week. I've had my needle off the scale a bunch of times and have never hit a limiter.

The Apex-i rev speed meter will remove limiter. On my Evo, all I did was cut the speed signal that goes to the ECU. Works without any noticeable side effects. May not work on your car.

The JC Sports torque chip will remove the speed limiter. While the speedo still reads correectly, the ECU thinks the car is only doing 42 mph and the car will go past the 112mpg limiter.

See http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Foru.../001767-3.html for my posting today about it.
