Hello,
I got my UTEC the other day and its all installed.. Im curios as to how to set the ABS cause the manual doesent mention what position to start it in. Ive read up a bit on the site and i just want to confirm what im thinking...' Turn the ABS till it bottoms out and then give it three turns open or somthing to that affect? stage 1

I think you mean the ABC (Auxiliary Boost Controller) It is in the manuals FAQ section. Open it 2 turns

Capture a #1 log. It has much more info in it. But yes the 3rd column is the boost.
Once you have opened the utec, ALT-T in hyperterm, 'C'apture, Then name the file and hit enter. Then press the number 1 and do some pulls. Then ALT-T, 'C'apture, Stop and post those logs You could probally open it one more turn, but you should get a full pull first from 2k-7k in 3rd gear to make sure its ok. Also it looks like you might need to do the TPS Calibration because your not hitting 100 percent TPS in those pulls above. |

Wow.. let me start by saying 3k-7k in 3rd is alot faster then it sounds...
This run was the longest abandoned road around and it just wasent good enough to get to 7k in 3rd... i guess its a track or dyno freindly test ![]() Anyways here is my run in 3rd... Quote:

Well you need to Calibrate your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) because your not getting to 100% TPS which is the 4th field in your latest pull. once you have that saying 100, or even a few percent above 100 is fine, you will be able to reach the higher load columns and the TPS/RPM to RPM/MAP cross over point will be correct. For instance your not even reaching the 90 percent load column. I would set the TPS first then log a pull and after that depending on boost levels you might be able to open the ABC a little bit more. Your pretty close to the 6000rpm boost level now and thats only in the 70 percent load column. Just follow the manuals recommendations for the boost levels of stage 1 (Below): RPM/Stage Stage 1 4000 16.1psi 5500 15psi 6000 12.5psi 7000 12 psi |

Here is the TPS section of the manual...
![]() Im not sure I understan what there asking me to do... Step 1: I have a PC and a UTEC .... Done! Step 2: Turned ignition on but did not start car. With no Pressure on the throttle I recorded the TPS value under Logger #4 .... Done! Step 3: fully depressed throttle pedal and recorded the TPS (T1) value under logger #4 .... Done! Step 4: ???? Step 5: ???? Now in steps 4 and 5 i assume im suppose to replace the T0 and T1 with the values I recorded and finish the equation .... but now what do I do with the answers? |

In the UTEC Edit your maps, select the Special Constants map under Parameters. Then put the numbers you calculate into the TPS Min and Max value. Save then go to the Dash Board and with the car not running fully depress the throttle and see what it reads. It should be 100 or a few percent above.

I think at this point your going to have to tune your UTEC Maps instead of continuing to open the ABC. It would be nice to know what your AFR's are running as well.

OK would you recommend I tune it while the ABC is open 2 turns or would you recommend I close it and then tune and if need be or If i can only get my boost to 15 then i would open it at that time? I just wanns say it again also man... You dident have to respond, you dident have to read my logs, you dident have to be so cool about it... and you dident have to give me such usefull advice... BUT YOU DID and for that I thank you bro ![]() Last edited by TheMainFrame; 03-08-2006 at 08:38 PM. |

The ABC will change your whole boost curve, as where editing your map you can smooth out the curve at specific points so it ramps up and down properly. So once you have a good boost curve if the whole curve is still short of your boost target then you can open the abc to affect the whole boost curve.
and np bud glad I could help |

You really want to be in a gear (no shifting) from around 2K rpms and log from there. Also, you're going "rich" quickly based off of the stock O2 sensor. There's a whole lot to learn though so you will spend lots of time doing this
You can not tune even half your map with stock O2 but you can damn be sure to increase spool by leaning out the AFR in the lower columns and increasing your boost onset number. For now, I wouldn't worry too much about max boost (just keep it low) and work on your spool up and AFR in the first third of the maps. Your primary concern is to smooth it all out. You will not, however, be able to progress any further in the tune without a way to view the actual AFR. Proceed at your own risk ![]() |

Try opening your ABC one more turn. Then try CLB values of 370. Put 370 in your 90% and 100% column and then your TPS wont matter as much.

^^I think he needs to work on getting his fuelling in the "ballpark" before he starts cranking up the boost. Just my opinion.

Also to the thread starter - Read mick the ginge's guide it's pretty awesome. Get a wideband and fix your A/F because with a TXS base map it's likely not smoothed out perfect. Or get a tune somewhere, lol. |

I don't agree. My stock O2 reads hand-n-hand with my LM-1 WB until it goes rich on the stock O2. This is why above I mentioned that the lower part of the map could be tuned using just the stock O2. It's been done before many times. The problem here is that you can only go so far. The small stock turbo comes on quickly so that doesn't give you much to work with in regards to rpms and boost. For example, you don't want to be at 11.2:1 AFR and 7psi of boost. That rich mixture normally isn't neccessary with such low boost. On his logs above, he's already past rich just as soon as the ECU sees boost. To an extent, this can be sorted out using the stock O2, but again, you can only do so much without the WB. |

Would I be wrong in thinking that the Stage 1 map is meant to run 16 Psi and if im not boosting that high wouldent that cause some richness?
So if i work my boost up just a bit so im at least reaching 15 then it might lean out? |

No because if you raise the boost, you go into a different column in the fuel map.
