Lightbulb Lowering idle RPM?

I think that the car is using too high rpms when idling. Does anyone know how to do this adjustment? Hope it's not ECU related. Most of you have Imprezas but I think it would nearly the same with my oldie. Pics would be great but any comment is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Its controlled by the computer. What do you idle at!? When I start it up, I hover at 1500 for a while, then it drops to 1000. When it is compleatly warmed up, it sits at 500.

There is an idle screw. If you look at the throttle body from the front of the car, it is located to the right of and almost below the throttle body. There is a 8 mm, IIRC, nut that keeps the screw in place. The head of the screw faces the firewall and you'll need a small phillips head screwdriver to turn it. Screwing it in increases the throttle opening at idle, hence raising RPM, and vice versa.

Hope this help,

Joe

If no one posts any pictures by tomorrow morning, I'll go take some and post it.

BTW, be careful when you mess around with it. Lowering your idle RPM too much could cause the car to stall when you lift off throttle!

Cool

jhuang76: Thank you very much. Still waiting for the photos if it isn't asked too much. Normally it hasn't used as high rpms when at idle. Nowadays it uses rather high rpms at the start (about 1500) but doesn't lower enough when warmed up. Dunno if this at all a wice thing to do but I'm giving a shot. Besides it's fun to all kinds of adjustments. Hmm...just catch a thoght about a that my battery went down last winter (minus 15 celsius). Maybe it has reset my ecu and therefore it doesn't lower... Any thoghts? Was it something like battery off for an half an hour and let it warm up by itself and then turn of...Thanks again

kevin: didn't catch your drift about idling, it's my mother language
