Default Help me identify my AccessPort power brick

I just moved into a new house over the weekend so my entire life is in boxes at the moment. I started to unpack my car stuff today and I realized that I am not sure if I have the correct power adapter for my AccessPort. I found an adapter that I am 70% sure belongs to my AccessPort but I cant afford to take the chance. I called COBB about this today and the guy on the phone really was not very much help.

I have the 2005 STI model (the other cars/years are different) and the power adapter that I THINK goes to the AP is rated at 5V / 600mA. It also states that its model AD-5600RDU. Can anybody confirm if this is it or not? Does anybody have a picture of the correct unit?

Subaru Stars

I have a AP for my 2005 STi. Sorry I can't upload a pic of it but I can tell you about it. The sticker doesn't match yours. Some info on my adapter are as follows....
ITE POWER SUPPLY
INPUT:120V 60Hz 1A
OUTPUT: DC 5V 1A
MODEL NO:RWP480505-1

( also on 1 side of the adapter is a Access Port sticker that read as follows. )

AccessPORT

Only use this AC adapter with your AccessPort. Using another AC adapter may cause damage to your AccessPort that is not covered under the AccessPort warranty.

Hope this helps you. Again sorry about not being able to upload a pic.

Mine is exactly like Reaper's, same Model No. and everything...

5V, 1Amp and has an AccessPORT sticker on the side.

600 MA may not be enough current, I'd go for one that provides 1 Amp or the 1200 MA (1.2 Amp) one like ADR 04STis.

I don't think it matters which one you use. Just make sure that the output is a 5 volt / 1 AMP regulated output with the correct polarity at the plug end, negative outside.

The two different AP's I've owned have had different looking power bricks. However, the one I own now has a brick that is exactly the same as your photos. I am sitting here looking at it. 100% Identical.

5V, 600mA.

What the hell! Well I called COBB early last week and ordered a new power brick. It cost me $8.00 including shipping. I guess I am a little paranoid after burning up the AP for my WRX.

Yes, two years ago the same friggen thing happened. I had two otherwise identical power bricks (same company just two different models) get mixed up. One was a 9V and the other was the 5V AP/COBB unit. Needless to say I blew my old AccessPORT sky high. Lucky me, I called COBB and explained what happened and the replaced it for free (I had to pay shipping). Keep in mind that this was when the first AccessPorts were on the market. I think I had serial number 23 if I am not mistaken (I backordered four months ahead of the initial ship date). I doubt they would do that today...

Yeah man now you have a spare brick. FWIW, there is no black art for power bricks. The voltage is the single most important thing. If it's 5V, it's 5V. Then, you have to make sure the device won't draw MORE than the stated current rating on the brick.

I promise an AP won't draw anywhere near 1 amp, and probably nowhere near the 600mA on the new bricks. It's just flash memory and a display.

it is also important to know if the power supply is regulated or not. some will claim 5v / 1a, but it will only output 5v at 1a. if your load is less than 1a, the voltage may be higher. on a regulated unit, it will hold 5v from zero load to max load.
