Default Driving with VF39 on Cobb stage 2.5 map without JDM pinks...

I want to install VF39 this weekend on my 02 WRX, but won't have pinks until two weeks later. Will my car be okay with 2.5 stage map as long as I don't push the car? I will not be boosting the car at all.

Will my car be okay as long as car is not boosted?

driving your car and not boosting it at all is impossible. the low compression ratio that our cars run will make driving a living hell if you don't have any boost. also, no matter what, there's no way that you would be able to travel below 3000rpm and expect to reach anything near 35mph.

No is your answer. You cannot drive your car with the 2.5 map without pinks. Well, you can but not for long. The Fuel injector scaler is set to meet the pinks. The stock fuel scaler is 6442 according to the accessTuner Stage 1 map. The Stage 2.5 map scaler is 5120. The higher the scaler, the richer it runs. So in this case, your making your stock injectors inject less gas than stock settings with a much bigger turbo. Even if your not boosting, your will be running dangerously lean as your are crusing on the highway.

Just wait.

I am going to go agains the grain and say you can do it as anything is possible but it's again NOT recomended.

If you can't resist
I would return the AP to stock, install the turbo stay out of boost, under 3000 rpm should be more than fine. ( I can't imagine an engine letting go so low). The stock map sould be rich enough to supply till 3000rpm zero boost. At zero boost, no vac. or positive preasure my car scoots at 4500ft elevation.

Repeat, NOT recomended, If you can't resist, I feel this is the safest bet. I would probably do this a day or two before injectors because my back is tweck and can't work for long myself.

no no no
even waste gate fueling will be off as the 2.5 map is looking for an injector 25% larger than what is present

do it all at once ..changing the turbo is less time consuming than changing the injectors any way

where do you get the 2.5 map from? Is the 2.5 map specifically for the WRX with a VF39?

the 06s have a vf39 map, 02-05 doesnt. but there are numerous people running vf34 map on the 02-05s and have reported to hit target boost with 0 problems.

IF you run WG boost on the 39 (~12psi) you will be moving less or about the same air than full boost on the TD04 in my estimation, so it's not the holy bejesus your engine won't last a week everyone makes it out to be. If i really had to do it, i would. Run the stage 1 map due to WGDC changes in the stage 2 map. I would of course be monitoring AFR's, knock, and timing too though

to achieve WG boost run a hose from the compressor directly to the WG bypassing the OEM BCS.

also be sure to inspect your 39 for cracks prior to install, there are some out there not holding up too well.
