Im wondering if there has to be any cutting of the interior to put this in a '99 Impreza as well.

Hi All,

These kits clear all normal interior including back seats. You do not have to cut anything in your car. Also you do not lose any seat travel at all.

These are great kits! We have sold a ton of these for the Subarus!

Yes this is true. As manufactured the Autopower kits have too small of a mounting plate to meet the NHRA Rules.

The Autopower bolt in kits do however meet many other sanctioning body rules.

Is this the only issue? I thought the tubing thickness was a problem. If not, would the mounting plates be a simple fix if it is just the actual thickness?

Good Questions!

As far as I know yes, that is the only only problem. Some of the older Autopower kits were made from ERW tube that was too small but now everything but the "Street Roll Bar" are made from DOM tube and easily meets the NHRA spec.
