Default SMC users, anyone with a FMIC?

I was curious if anyone with the SMC kit is running a FMIC and where they mounted their nozzle?

I know its designed nicely to work with the tmic and thats how I plan to use it for awhile... Just thinking about down the road when I want to switch to a FMIC...

Mount it close to the TB, just as you would with a TMIC. On my EVO it is mount about 6 inches away from TB.

yup, 6 inches from the throttle body. That's where we mounted my buddy's.

You want atomization without complete evaporation...otherwise all you have is really humid air getting sucked in. ;-)

You want full evaporation to take place inside the cylinder...that's where heat goes kapoot.

I will be running it on my Turbo XS FMIC, I will probably mount it 6-7 inches from the TB

I have the TXS FMIC and I already had the nozzle mounted in a TB/IC coupler from when I had my WRX. I was able to use it with the FMIC, the nozzle is about 1 inch from the TB.

How did you get it to seal w/ the silicone...I would do that just so If i ever sell my IC I dont have to buy a new pipe, or sell it w/ the injector in there...but I have heard of putting it in the silicone coupler, but it leaks boost

I've been running it in the coupler for over a year now with no boost leaks. I drilled a hole just slightly smaller than the nozzle, put a washer on the inside and outside of the coupler, ran a very thin bead of gasket sealer in there, then screwed in the nozzle from the inside of the coupler. Never had any issues with it at all.

I have the Perrin kit. The nozzel is directly across from the BOV bung which is about 4-5 inches from the throttle body. TurboXS FMIC users have better clearance because their hot pipe runs near the firewall. However Perrin FMIC like myself have hot pipes that run directly under where the cold pipe bends to go into the TB. Be very careful and make sure you have clearance. Metal on metal rubbing will pop a hole in no time

ensure the BOV is well before the spray, unburned alcohol in the engine bay is not ideal.
