I would go with fog pattern. The 500 driving puts out a circle of light in front of your car which is good for pointing way down the road. I havent tried the fogs yet, but I'm switching to them some time this week. So I would say go with the fogs.

If your getting HID projectors those will take car of the road directly in front of you. If you drive more in rain/snow/bad weather, then you might want the amber fogs for better wet visibility. If you just drive really fast, and need to see more road ahead, then go with the driving light (will get farther than HID lights).

Fog lights and driving lights serve two different purposes. Which one you need depends on the type of driving you do and what problem you're trying to solve. If you want something that will help you to be seen in the city then go with the fogs. If you want something to help you see down dark roads at night then go with the driving lights.
