Just got my new KYB GR-2 struts in the other day. Called up my favorite (until now) tire/shock/alignment shop to schedule the installation. At first, the mechanic that answered said sure, no problem, bring it in tomorrow, Then there was a long pause and the manager gets on and tells me "no, it's a 7 hour job and we don't get into putting struts on Subaru's anymore". HUH? WHAT?
So is strut installation THAT major a job or was the guy just pissed because I didn't buy the parts off him?

Honestly, you could do it yourself. It it not hard at all. It will probably take you 4-5 hours your first time. IF you run into any problems, just give me a call, and I'd be happy to walk you through it.

Thanks for the info! I'm not a mechanic but I didn't think it was that major a job.
When I get enough courage up I'll give you a call. ![]() |

hehehehe...
it all depends... if ya run into problems... it "could" be difficult to do the installation... KYB/AGX - when i put them on my car... it took at LEAST 7 hours... DMS - took 4 and that's with all air tools and including the time it took for the alignment... just giving you a heads up. j. |

Subie Gal, I hear you loud and clear!
"Upon further review", I think that I'll get a professional to do the install - not that I couldn't do it myself if I had the time! |

My brother and i installed GR2s in my Legacies in 4 hours both times. No power tools, just muscles, and plenty of them.
It's not hard but good tools and plenty of elbow grease are required. I saved a ton of cash this way and it was kinda fun, in a sick way. Oh, and you can check out my install report on Legacy Central or Turbo-Centric. http://www.xmission.com/~dac http://www.xmission.com/~dac/centric.htm [This message has been edited by DLC (edited September 15, 2000).] |
