Default For those that live in an apartment

When calling for service, food delivery or just to give someone your address, how and when do you give them the apt number?

Most customers around here (Baltimore, MD) give it to me wrong. But here's how they give it.

example:

me-"your address?"
customer- "1442 Southdale St, Baltimore, Md, 21212, apt 4b"

or
"1142 SOuthdale St, Baltimore, MD, apt 4b, That's in 21212"

Shouldn't it be:
"1442 Southdale St Apt 4b, Baltimore, MD, 21212"

(Just a fake address I made up)

Maybe it's just me.

I generally give it with the address, it's become a habit from everything else.

Only people that live in apartments run a splitter off of their washer and a hose through the hall way and out a window to wash their car. Yes I am dedicated.

I've ordered pizza during a long session in the detached garage which is in the back of the house. I just instruct them to have the delivery guy to pull all the way up the driveway and knock on the garage door. Never had any problems there.

Hopefully food service won't need a city, state, and zip...

But when having something shipped, it makes far more sense to include your apt # right after your street address. Then city, state, zip. Just in the order you'd type out a shipping labal.

For food delivery:

Give them my address, and they usually ask for a door buzz code, which I give them.

If not, they have to scroll through and find my last name (where there are two, or were two in my apartment, which sometimes caused issue).

For other deliveries, just give my name, address w/ apartment number. I'm never home when they attempt to deliver, so hopefully the building manager gets it for me, otherwise I always have to go pick it up myself.

I say it like I'd write it on an envelope or when filling out a form.

Building/street number, name of street, apt. #, city, state, zip.

I always piss off order people when I give my phone number. I always include the area code first and they typically skip that part.

The same people give me the area code last. Here in MD you have to dial the area code for a local call.
