Default Stage 2 tune and Suspension

Hello Everyone,

Well, I received my 3" Invidia Cat Downpipe and a 3" Borla Hush Catback Exhuast. So needless to say after this weekend I will be running a stage 2 map.

I wanted to get the car a Pro-Tune and was wondering somthing. If my plans are to upgrade the suspension of the car starting with sway bars and such what kinf of affect will that have on my tune?

For instance, If I was to install my TBE and get a Pro-tune. And then decided to upgrade my suspension would there be further tuning simply from the suspension improvements and if yes then would it be a big change?

Wow. I am assuming that you are new to this whole ENGINE management thing right?? Because if you weren't I'd seriously be questioning why you think that suspension components have ANY effect on your ENGINE????

Look, I'm not trying to be a d!ck, but go back to the newbies forum and do some searching on this site. There is a ton of information here and at this point I think that you could benefit from most of it.

Come back and ask away about tuning once you're comfortable on what it does for your car.

First car Ive ever modded and I got my Utec 2 weeks ago.. So yes im very very new to this engine managment thing. I currently run the Staged Maps untill ive learned enough to make modifications. Im semi hoping that the Pro Tuner will let me stick around while he is tuning it so I can maybe learn a thing or two that way

I understand that in the simplest definistion of suspension and engine managment they have nothing to do with each other.

My question was more toward reaching a "perfect tune". Better handling = better cornering = faster cornering = higher RPM on corner.... was more or less making sure that my assumtions where correct in thinking that even these factors would not merit minor or perhaps even major modifications in the way the engine is tuned.

FYI: I am reading up on engine management and im at the begining stages of learning. Thats what inspired my question

Well then, I'll play...

Think of the 2 (engine & suspension) as two completely different components that are not dependent on one another, but should compliment each other. As many people here have learned, it doesn't always go down that way...

Some things to keep in mind:

- The engine tune does not affect your suspension parts directly and visa versa. In other words, you won't have to have your car re-tuned when you add suspension components. Tuning accounts for all aspects of engine efficiency.
- The more power you run, the more you will notice the shortcomings of the stock suspension.
- Important to remember that if you are moving faster, then you probably would like to stop faster too.

From these items look into some easy upgrades like pads, fluid, lines, swaybars, endlinks and IMHO TIRES!!!! Tires are one of the best suspension modifications you can do with your car, and one of the only ones that I can think of that might affect your tune (read: more grip, better traction).

I see lots of reading in your future...

awsome, thanks for the info...

Tires eh? Looks like it might be time to delve into the suspension portion of the forum as well
