Default 2.2 compression

i'm a complete amature and just ned some help. have a 2.2 and i cant find compression specs for it anywhere. i'm pretty sure the internal remain stock, but i looks like it has a 2.5 head on it. it has a turbo kit but i dont know what i should try and set boost at. it currently runs 5 psi and runs good, but i know it has more potential. you guys are the best. what do you think is reasonable to be fast and reliable?

I would take it and get the thing tuned. You can increase boost all you want but you will never know how it is running unless you get some pulls in with a wideband.

Who'd you get the car from? Do you have any pictures of the engine bay? What's the turbo set up like? Engine management?

Either you have an Ej22T bottom end, which would be a total score. Even if it is an Ej22E open deck bottom end, it will do all right with 12-15 psi because it's a pretty solid block and the compression will still be in the mid 8's.

But to tell you anything definitive, we really need some more info. I am wondering if this is one of the old JC sports built cars from back in the day...

i think the kit is a ludespeed kit. it has a t/4 greddy turbo, topmount ic, electromotive tec 2 (old school) . i think it was originally built by a guy at vishnu performance. the kit originally was on a 2.5. for some reason i want to say its a closed deck block. i know i has all the suppor mods for power, but i just dont know about the internals. where could i find the engine code?

You won't be able to tell from the outside. Look closely at the casting. If it's closed deck, it will have a bunch of criss cross hash marks on the casting on top.

pictures will help
the injectors will also be a big factor on how much you can do

by any chance did you get the map file for the tec .. it can't be downloaded.. w/o it you will have to start over retuning the car from scratch..

If the car was white, I might suspect that it was Shiv's personal car...

no its silver. i dont have the map. it has pretty beefy looking injectors. whatever comes with the kit. so psi in the teens is feasable though.

Then what was the point of this thread?

And while it may be a lot less hassle than tuing the Tec2, it's a major step backwards in the performance department, and will require a major rewiring operation, but shoot yourself...
