Subaru Stars Knock Cel

I just disabled the CEL in the UTEC parameters. My question is, if the CEL will still flash when knock is detected?

I don't think the but part is correct. The light is just disabled, that doesn't mean your ecu won't still have ce codes in it. At least that's what I thought?

peace

just to clarify, the stock ECU won't be capable of flashing the CEL light if u disable it with the UTEC, but the code will be stored for retrieval with a OBD2 scanner. e.g. if the stock ECU detects a misfire, the code will be stored but it won't flash the CEL.

I never reccomend that people disable the CEL light. There is no reason why you can't have a Utec and no CEL codes. Let the CEL do it's job and let you know when you have something wrong.

I'll agree with that but also disagree at the same time. There are many people that have habitual misfires with the ECU/UTEC combo. I know the argument too...if your fuel map is tuned well etc you won't have them. I don't see that being true though.

Just my 3 pennies!

Maybe an ECU reflash! Other than that, get rid of the UTEC LOL!
