Thumbs up 90-94 Legacy Discussion Group now up!

For you 90-94 Legacy Legacy Turbo owners, there is now an e-groups discussion group located at www.egroups.com/group/BC-BFLegacyWorks .

The purpose of the discussion group is basically for us "old school" guys to discuss performance topics or topics relating to performance. No stereo or window tinting questions please.

It is not to take the place of this board, but in an instance where something can be discussed in great detail, we don't have to take up the space here.

Also, when filling out the profile, please try to fill in the majority of it or at least a general location. Enjoy.

Alex, I'm sure every Legacy owner that posts here appreciates you having a forum for Legacy owners, I know I do. But as the discussion board states, the 90-94 guys have a small but devoted following and this just gives them something to call their own.

Believe me, this is no knock on 95-current Legacy owners, I think they are fantastic cars, but the fact is there are probably 15 times as many of the 2nd and 3rd gen Legacy enthusiasts(and that number will contiue to grow), as there are the 90-94 guys. It's not like an Impreza where a guy with a 93 can relate to just about everything a guy with a 99 can, the first gen Legacys were different cars then their later models. Many things remained the same, many things changed.

Was it needed? Judging by the numbers of 1st gen guys, probably not. And if the 1st gen guys think it's a waste of time, it will get no traffic and people will contine to post here among all the other Legacy info and that will be that. They probably will continue to post here anyway But it surely is not going to hurt any.

It really is no big deal. We are all aware that this is the number one Subaru site on the internet. I am not creating another Impreza web site with info and a bulletin board for crying out loud. It's just a little e-mail group for 1st gen guys and I doubt it will take much traffic, if any, away from this BB. I know of specific BBs for Outback owners, SVX owners, Outback Sport owners, and other Subaru types. I mean, what's the differences between an Outback and a Legacy GT or an Outback Sport and a normal Impreza wagon? Not much at all, but everyone likes a bit of individuality. Again, no big deal.

FWIW, there will be a link on the discussion board to your site and there is already a link to here on DAC's Legacy Turbo site. If you would like, I will not put the link up.

You made the i-club site because you thought you could improve on Simon's site( I am assuming), this is not the case. No one is trying to take away your crown as the top Subaru site on the net. It's merely an extension of your Legacy Forum for guys with first gen Legacys, nothing more.

My apologies if it rubbed you the wrong way. Just out of curiosity, why was the Vishnu forum started? I would think any discussion on that topic should be in the Technical forum as it was, since it concerns something technical, no?

I do think a small board for the 1st gen Legacies is a good idea and i considered doing one for turbos specifically, but since the rest of the car is so similar i bagged that one.

I'm going to visit the i-club just as much as i ever have, it's just nice to have a place to talk about my Legacy specifically with other owners of the same gen that appeals to me.

Great boards are hard to find, and i'm not letting go of this one!

Thumbs down

I don't why you can't discuss this here. All messages that people post here get archived and can be later searched by the new comers. Trust me, Legacy forum isn't eating up any space and never will. The hardware and software that we use to run this site can handle it all. Please, discuss it here, as I created this forum when you asked me to.

Wink

I totally understand, and, if you really want, I can setup a separate forum for the turbo Legacy guys. Just show me that there is enough interest. See, since all the topics are being archived, it makes it very easy to find answers to questions that have already been answered. I know you guys have already made a website. Why not become a real i Club subsidary? You are 90% there already.

Works for me too if you include the Naturally Aspirated 90-94 Legacys as well.

That would be fine with me. To be honest, I never thought to ask you for our own forum simply because I know there's not a million people involved with the BC and BF Legacys. We're a small group. But if you want to start our own forum, I'm sure we would all appreciate it without a doubt. That says alot that you would even offer. And I do agree with Lone Wolf, a forum for all BC/BF Legacys would be the way to go, not just for the Legacy Turbo guys.

But just to be clear so I don't look like a cry baby and before the Impreza L crowd hounds you for their own forum, many things on the BC/BF Legacys are quite different then it's later counterparts and a number of topics simply do not relate between them and the later year Legacys and visa versa. This is not the case with the Impreza yet. That's the main reason why I started the Legacy Works in the first place.

As for becoming an official i-club subsidary, that's totally up to Dave since it is his web site, I just get to post news on it( eventually )

Turbo-Centric and Legacy Central are tailored almost exclusively to the 90-94 Legacies already so i won't have to change anything.

I've got a news system using NewsPro that allows Matt to post from the web, and anyone else that wants to (LW?).

Please let us know what you can do for us.
