What do you class as a "real friend" someone you see regularly that you are happy to hang out with or super best friends?

ones that i hang out with, i'd have to say at least 10. i work with one other person, so it's hard to do the work-friends thing.

Yer the work friends thing blows. Its hard to not let stuff slip after a few brews. I always fell so reserved.

I generlly refer to my group of friends as "the platoon" there are like 8 ppl in 3 major groups that kinda come and go. We are all pretty close though. Id like to think im teh LT as nobody can get their act together if i turn off my phone.

I really do have 7 or 8 people who I consider true firends. The group of us has been close since we were around 12 years old, and it hasn't changed in ten odd years.

This is us circa 7 years ago. I think i was sixteen (I'm the one with the goofy ass smile in the middle, the water was freezing.) Holy crap time flies, that feels like last year. We're actually all getting together for a barbeque this Sunday, hopefully we'll never lose touch, people are starting to get married and move away...

Ud think that, same body mostly but no they are not teh same ppl. I havent had as much xp with coke but kow few that have gone down the Crystal meth path and thats downright nasty. They retain some of thier personailty traits but their brains get screwed up big time. My best friend went down this path and i could not follow, havent seen him in years.

That moving away thing blows but it happens, times change.

I'd say... two. But one goes to college ~13 hours away and one I hardly get to see anymore cause we're both pretty busy and whatnot.

I've lost a lot of good friends recently, due to moving away or break ups, yadda yadda.

So I have to say at the moment, zero close friends that I see very often.

Life sucks.

There is, indeed, a big difference between friend and "real friend." Any ordinary friend will be there when things are great and everybody's laughing.

"Real friend" denotes somebody who will do things like:
*loan you money when they're late on their own payments
*spend the day at the hospital with you while one of your family members is undergoing emergency surgery
*look you in the eye and tell you "this person is right for you, and you need to change or you'll lose them," and give a toast at your wedding.
*look you in the eye and tell you "this person is wrong for you, they will tear you down" and help you get back up when it turns out they're right.
*stay for the entire viewing/wake for one of your family members
*know that something's wrong just from the sound of your voice on the phone
*get into a fight they know they'll lose to cover your back

Right now, I believe I have two, not counting my brother-in-law.

True-true. In the recent movie "Just Like Heaven" (which was much better than I feared upon realizing we were seeing it instead of something else) "I'm doing this for you or for her. I'm doing this because somebody I'm going to need to move a body and when that day comes I don't want any **** from you."
