Hi!
We're not looking to make the move right away - 'more like a year or two - though it's never too early to start making friends! We'll be going to the Kalispell area and was wondering if there were any members there. Certainly drop me a PM if you'd like. Also - I'll be thinking about doing a suspension mod soon (I have 106K miles on a stock suspension that isn't 'whooped' yet, but...). What would you recommend for the roads up there? 'Seems the weather conditions are similar to New England... 'Hope to hear from a friendly voice! ![]()

buy another rig and do whatever you want to your wrx.
outback or forester and a BYB lift. i used to live in missoula. not a bad place, i like being close to I-90 and having a few ski areas i could go to easily. living up near sealy lake would have been nice, or outside the the bob marshell wilderness. when the uscg is done for me. im going back to missoula. missoula isnt exactly montana...kinda a artsy fartsy place in the middle of the woods, not sure in montana even claims it . |

Live in Kalispell and work in Whitefish.
I recently tried a set up of KYB AGX shocks and some SPT Blue Springs....not good for this area! In addition to enjoying the outdoors and being able to take the dirt/gravel roads to hikes or camping, the roads in general are not in the best of condition. The ride was a bit harsh and it dropped the vehicle by about an inch. Recentl removed the springs after 2,000 miles and ride is much better but now the car looks goofy riding so high! Oh well, better for rally cross events! So I guess, stock may be the best way to go overall. Anyhow, long-winded but PM me if you want some info on the area! I am an East Coast product also! Take care and good luck |

The only reason we have our own stickied thread is cause we don't have PDX Tuning, PIR, Bremerton, All Wheels Driven, Dave Clark Motorsports, Pacific Raceway, Oregon Trail, Doo Wops, the ICSCC, Primitive Racing, a Japanese garden, good seafood, and oh yes, the beach all in a 4 hour driving radius like the rest of you. I spend 4+ hours just getting to track days
ScoobieRu, the weather is similar to the NE (from NJ myself) but it changes very rapidly and without a lot of warning. It can be sunny but then break out into a snowstorm that will gather about an inch of snow, then end all within 15 minutes. Summers the same thing happens but with rain and thunderstorms. The roads here are both good and bad depending on where you are. A lot of highways are rutted from the enormous logging trucks and wide tires will pull you in and out of these tracks pretty easily but for suspension mods, you won't really have to plan any differently for out here than you would in CT unless you're living up 10 miles of dirt roads. |

Hi y'all. (I've got some catchin' up to do here!)
(Thanks, SubieGal, for the link. 'preciate it!) LOL ... I'd *LOVE* to have another Scoob, though we have 2 other project vehicles in the wings: '90 Nissan 4x4 pickup (almost done) and a '79 Formula that is in very sorry shape. I'm currently building a website for the truck. It was tough finding parts out here ... and not many sites will divulge resources, links, dwgs, etc. - they'll just do a "parts list" of some kind with pictures. (Maybe I'm just OCD...) I've heard some great things about Missoula. I'd be quite interested in checking out that area, though we fell in love with the Kalispell region, so we'll be headed 'somewheres' up there. mossie: I think I'm going to take you up on the PM! 'Talk to ya' soon... roofis: Ah, so it sounds similar to "lake effect" weather. The Adirondaks/VT/NH can be like that (well, you probably know that already). Personally, I was considering a Koni/GC-type set up. I don't want to drop/lower it at all - I know that. 'Sounds like there are quite a few 'transplants'! Do "we" all like the change? |
