Question only one fog light working????

hey guys,

so i bought a set of fog lights from a memeber off of here,
got a pretty good deal, but his car was an 03 and mines an 02... so unfortunetly the plugs didn't match so i went to subaru, they tried to sell me a whole new set of lights (they don't sell just the plug), so i just went to Hobby Shack and picked up a set of Dean's Ultra plugs (i've used them on my RC cars and know they work great) and snipped and re-soldered everything.... my problem is that when i was doing this, being the dumbass that i am, i didn't disconnect the battery, and when i was soldering the right side plug, it sparked real quick and that was it... i thought nothing of it, but now the light won't come on i checked the bulb to make sure it worked, and it does, so i'm guessin i popped the relay, but i'm not sure... the left light works fine.... so i guess my question is, are there separate relays for each fog light??? and if so where are they located???

thanks
02

There is only one relay for the fogs, the relay is located infront of your left knee.... Thats weird. If one is working, why isnt the other. You could try replacing the relay. Make sure its wired correctly as well. Good luck man.

Well if the relay is only available from Subaru then I give you this site: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html

Subie_gal on here runs the site. You could probably ask her.

Just go pull the relay take it to autozone or something and see if they have simlar ones.

Good luck man!

based on the wiring diagram, if at least one works, then the relay is fine (the two foglights are on the same power lead from the relay, and are connected in parallel) - check the harness - it's probably shorted out somewhere.

I am going to assume that you have already checked that the bulb isn't blown...

well, i went over the wiring again today and thought it might be a bad ground (not sure why i didn't think of that first) so i unpluged the Deans plugs and put a wire on the negative side on the male end and half way pluged them back in and ran the other end to a ground on the inside of the passanger side quarter panel and tried it... and what do ya know it worked! ... so i proceeded solder the new negative to the plug and bypass the old one, then i tapped into the ground wire and thought it was all good... nope... freakin thing didn't work again!!! so i came to figure out that the plug was bad, if it was only a 1/4 of the way in it would work??? but all the way in and no deal??? so i unsoldered both plugs and replaced them both with old ones off my R/C car and now the light works with old ground and all.... so i guess these new Deans plugs are made like shyt!!! cuz the male end is pretty much melted from the soldering iron (the stupid thing is that i barely had the iron on the damn thing!!! just enough to liquify the solder and that's it!!!). so in the end, no bad relay, no bad ground, wiring harness was fine it was just the stupid freakin plug!!!
i swear i've had the worst luck with this stinkin car (never buy ebay cars!!!)
thanks again for all the input guys
