Unhappy Leaky Sunroof

My wife's 95 Legacy has a leaky sunroof. The dealer said that the problem is not in the gasket but in the track mechanism that rolls it back. One of the tracks is broken and it won't close completely. They are quoting $700 for the track mechanism (can't just replace the broken track) before labour.
Oh well, we only have 100,000 miles on Sybil. With winter approaching not sure we'll bother fixing the sunroof. We also have had problems with the driver's side window rubbing when you roll it up and down. They said that the rubber "bumper" needs to be replaced.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. They said they have never encountered it.
Thanks

Does the sunroof look closed from the outside? Is it amost flush with the roof line? If it is than the track is not the problem. The gasket is never totally water tight there is always a slight water leak but the water runs into the gutter channel. The gutter is inside the car. You probably just have a blocked gutter.

HIHO thanks, but I saw the track and it's stuffed. They managed to get it closed and turned off the switch so we don't accidentally open it. It doesn't leak now but is not functional. Thanks for helping though. It's why I love this club.

Angry window scratches

Yes, apparently the window scratching is rather common. Some bumber (or something) inside the door collects dirt sand, whatever and is scratching the glass. The only fix I've heard of is prying the guides back, but that leaves you with too much play in the window for my tastes. If you hear an alternate solution, please let me know.

What the dealer told my wife was that the bumper guides were worn out. They are going to replace them. Don't know the cost yet.

my mom accidentally had the garage door come down on the sunroof awhile back (long story, not her fault) and i recall the pricing include what was quoted above. not an easy fix. although ours dosen't leak, i find it much noisier than before in it's operation despite going back to the dealer several times. maybe it would be best to leave it alone.

this bumper problem... does it paint a vertical stripe in the middle of the glass? because that's what ours is doing...

Unhappy

yeah my driver's side windows has that annoying ass veritcal stripe! It's kinda wierd when it rains and there's this one stripe that isn't wet....what are those bumper impregnated with Rain-x or silicon or something??? Oh and my MY99gt had a problem with a leaky sunroof. the was a tear in the moulding/weathersealer and it would catch and not properly seal. Water would leak during heavy rain thru the map light/sunroof controls. I brought my car into the dealer for warranty repair not less than 100miles left on my warranty ( ) and they replaced the whole glass. They mentioned that it wasn't the weatherstriping's fault...something to the effect that the glass laminate had come undone and water was seeping in between the glass???? but whatever they did, it works now.

Don't feel alone on the glass issue...it happens on the JDMs too.

I've also had 2 Skylines that did the same thing
